The group of photographs showing women is very diverse. It includes stylish portraits of female Varsovians from the occupation and post-war times, but the largest, and most dynamic, set is comprised of images from the Rising. You can see how female dispatch runners and medics shared their fate with men to the end: fighting on the frontline, evacuating from the falling districts through the sewers, and finally leaving the city for POW camps. Photos by Eugeniusz Lokajski document also some moments of joy which gave a substitute of normal life – such as the famous Biega's wedding
