Most photographs in this category show insurgent funerals, some of them ceremonious and conducted in the company of whole units, others low profile and hasty. There are also images of graves themselves, not only in makeshift graveyards (like the one at 9 Mazowiecka Street), but also in the streets and backyards. Some victims were buried in mass graves – an example is shown in photos taken by Joachim Joachimczyk. The graves were adorned with pot plants and bunches of gladiolas, and marked with boards showing the names, pseudonyms and military ranks of the fallen. Another group includes images, often graphic ones, which document German war crimes, e.g. civilian victims of air raids and incendiary bombs. Poignant photos by Eugeniusz Haneman show exhumations conducted in the spring of 1945.
