This category shows photographs of immobilised vehicles – tram wagons and lorries, wooden carts and hackneys - used for fortifying the barricades. Cars (like the one shown in the photos by Sabina Żdżarska), tanks and armoured vehicles were precious spoils for the insurgents, but were also difficult to manoeuvre in the city's barricaded streets, hence there are more images of insurgents on motorbikes and bicycles than at the wheel. The aircraft photographed over Warsaw are the German "Stukas", or Junker Ju 87s, during air raids, and the allied Liberators and Halifaxes dropping supplies for the insurgents. On 18 September, Warsaw was reached by US aeroplanes, the so-called "flying fortresses", with airdrops for the insurgents as part of operation "Frantic 7".
