This category includes pre-war photographs taken by one author - Witold Edward Koneczny. He documented, often with great attention to detail, the Varsovian architecture and important events that took place in the city, such as the funeral of Józef Piłsudski on 17 May 1935 and the military parade on 11 November 1933. You can see buildings in the Old Town and along Krakowski Przedmieście Street, and showpiece edifices at Polytechnic Square and Napoleon Square. One of them shows the façade of a typical modernistic townhouse. The photos of the funeral of Józef Piłsudski show Varsovians taking part in that grand event, while the Independence Day parade was meant to reassure them that the young State is strong and modern. A modest portrait of a Jewish shopkeeper standing in the door to his shop is a counterbalance for those photographs.
