Participants will walk towards the Warsaw Insurgents Cemetery commemorating the inhabitants of the capital who perished during the Warsaw Rising. Their names will be read out during the march.

Medal of the Courier from Warsaw Award Gala
Established by the Warsaw Rising Museum, the Medal of the Courier from Warsaw is a distinction awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to strengthening Poland’s ties with the West, maintaining good Euro-Atlantic relations, and promoting ideas and attitudes close to those of the Warsaw Rising: striving for freedom and independence, as well as building community and democracy. This year, the Medal will be awarded for the second time.

Exhibition in Hiroshima

"Warsaw. Phoenix from the ashes" is the name of the exhibition that will be open for public in Hiroshima from 16 November 2023. It tells the story of the capital of Poland under German occupation, during Warsaw Rising and after WW2 when it was being brought back to life. The Exhibition was organized by the Warsaw Rising Museum and The Adam Mickiewicz Institute in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Tokio and Municipal Authorities of Hiroshima.

Our temporary exhibition “Warsaw Rising 1944” in Compiègne

The exhibition presents military, political, historical and personal aspects of the Warsaw Rising. For 63 days between 1 August and 2 October 1944 the inhabitants of the Polish capital were struggling against superior German forces whereas the Soviet Army abstained from giving a helping hand though standing on the other side of the Vistula river.

The tragic yet heroic tale of Captain Szostak and the crew of B-24 Liberator KG890

It is one of the highlights of the Warsaw Rising Museum. Every visitor raises their head to ponder on its story. The Liberator piloted by Cpt. Zbigniew Szostak completed six vital airdrops of weapons, ammunition and medical supplies over fighting Warsaw in 1944. This one-to-one scale replica of Szostak’s Liberator pays homage to the bravery, skill and courage of the crew who gave their all to help Warsaw during its greatest hour of need. All seven crew members were sadly killed in action over southern Poland on 15 August 1944, by a Luftwaffe night fighter during their return flight back to Brindisi, Italy.
